Olivia Moore - Lead course trainer (Pilates, Yoga, Meditation teacher / Physiotherapy degree)

Teaching and spreading the word on the benefits of Pilates is Olivia’s passion. Having taught for over a decade, she has seen the change it can bring to peoples’ lives physically and mentally. Originally using it as a method to help rehabilitate physio patients, she now teaches full- time alongside running Moore movement with her brother Angus. Olivia dedicates her time to further learning within the field and it has long been a dream to pass on her knowledge and love of teaching! Her style of teaching is based on encouraging the student to get to know their bodies more, to move from a place of empowerment and embodiment. Fusing elements of her learnings from Yoga, Somatics and Meditation into her teaching, results in a strong mindful movement experience!

Angus Moore - Lead course trainer (Pilates and Yoga instructor)

Since joining the world of pilates, Angus has wanted to build a studio and work with his sister; to combine the two has been a dream come true. Creating a community in an environment he feels passionate about is hugely rewarding.
What started as the perfect part time job, Angus was soon hooked by the diversity of teaching and has enjoyed every moment in his career of nearly ten years. Despite finding it daunting to begin with, he has learnt so much about himself and found a sense of quiet confidence that has benefited him personally in so many ways.
His favourite part of teaching is seeing how people learn to control their bodies, gain awareness of their movement and hold themselves differently, transforming how they feel in and out of the studio. Seeing firsthand how it can make a difference to people has made it a very fulfilling career.

Having felt the benefits of pilates for his own injuries, the basis of his style is to put an emphasis on stability and control to build confidence, enabling your body to move freely again. Angus particularly enjoys sharing his skills in thoughtful sequencing and flow with his fellow teachers in the studio. His calm nature and accessible approach transfer perfectly to the art of teaching.

Becky Thomas - Anatomy Teacher trainer (Osteopath, Yoga and Pilates teacher, Anatomy teacher)

Becky trained as a gymnast her whole childhood encouraging her fascination with the human body. This led her to getting a degree in Osteopathy from Oxford Brookes University. Since then she has worked in private clinics in Australia, London and Belfast. To add to that Becky has completed her Mat Pilates and Yoga teacher training. She also started her role in Anatomy teaching through the Yoga teacher training in Studio 52.

We are delighted to have becky’s knowledge and skills within the teaching team!

FAQ:

WHO IS ACTIVE IQ AND WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I HAVE AT THE END OF THE COURSE?

Active IQ is an awarding organisation that is recognised and regulated by the following qualifications and examinations regulators: Ofqual (England) and Qualifications Wales. Active IQ is not a training provider (centre) and it does not deliver training courses. Instead its qualifications are delivered by a national and international network of approved training organisations that they refer to as ‘approved centres’.

At the end of the course, having completed all the requirements you will have a Reformer Pilates teacher qualification, accredited by Active IQ through Moore Movement.

Active IQ qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and are jointly regulated by England’s regulator Ofqual (incl. Northern Ireland) and Qualifications Wales.

Therefore, Active IQ qualifications are recognised in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland has its own framework: the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). Although they do not additionally appear on the SCQF, Active IQ qualifications are widely respected by learners, training organisations and employers in Scotland, and several approved centres in Scotland choose to offer our qualifications.

In Europe, the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) acts as a translation device to make national qualifications more readable across Europe. All regulated qualifications sitting on the RQF (including all Active IQ qualifications) align to the level descriptors of the EQF.

UK qualifications are well-regarded all over the world, and where there is a national register of exercise professionals with an agreement in place for mutual recognition, Active IQ certificates should be recognised for those seeking employment abroad. However, this decision lies uniquely with the relevant country and their local jurisdictions. See EuropeActive and ICREPs for further guidance and information.

WILL I HAVE SUPPORT ONCE THE COURSE IS FINISHED IF I NEED IT?

Yes you will have support from Olivia and Angus after the course is finished for any questions and the option of review hours together.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T PASS THE PRACTICAL/WRITTEN EXAM FIRST TIME?

You will have the opportunity to repeat the exam with feedback and support from Olivia and Angus.

WITHIN WHAT TIME FRAME DO I NEED TO COMPLETE ALL MY HOURS FOR OBSERVATION/ SELF PRACTICE AND PRACTICE TEACHING?

You will have up to a year from the start date of the course to complete all the hours, but we would advise you to do these as soon as possible while there is momentum and the training is fresh in your head. Only once you have completed all the hours will you be able to receive the certificate.

DO I NEED TO COMPLETE MY OBSERVATION HOURS WITHIN MOORE MOVEMENT?

You will be of course welcome to observe specific classes at Moore Movement but you can also observe classes in other studios that allow you to, you can also watch classes online on platforms such as Pilates Anytime as part of your observation hours.

WHERE CAN I COMPLETE MY PRACTICE TEACHING HOURS?

You can use Moore Movement with prior arrangement with Olivia and Angus, we suggest that you team up with other people in the group to complete these hours to work together and support each other. If you have your own machine or the use of other studios you of course can complete hours this way too.
